2nd XI T20 Match Report: Derbyshire v England U19s

2nd XI Twenty20 - Derbyshire v England Under-19s, 19th June 2013

Derbyshire Second XI claimed a 46-run victory in their Twenty20 clash against England Under-19s at Alvaston and Boulton Cricket Club.

Ben Slater top-scored with 70 from 59 balls and Scott Elstone added 22 as Derbyshire posted 134-8 from their 20 overs.  England Under-19s’ reply never got going, with Callum Harding leading the hosts’ attack with excellent figures of 3 for 7 from his four overs.

Peter Burgoyne and Taylor both picked up two wickets apiece to remove the visitor’s middle-order, as the Under-19 outfit were all out for 88, handing Derbyshire victory in the day’s opening Twenty20 fixture.

England Under-19s elected to bat first in the second Twenty20 contest and 43 from Alsop helped the visitors post a strong total of 156-3 from their allotted overs, despite the best efforts of Elstone who returned figures of 3 for 23 from four overs.

Stephen Stubbings’ side, however, struggled in reply, with only Tom Poynton (35) and Harvey Hosein (26) posting notable scores, as Derbyshire were restricted to 128-9 in 20 overs handing England Under-19s a 28-run victory.
