Tony Palladino says he can’t wait to start bowling again after being cleared to start the season following a facial injury.
The 28-year-old fast-bowler returned home early from the pre-season tour of Barbados after a freak accident in training saw him take a ball to the face breaking his jaw.
A layoff of six weeks was initially feared but, following surgery yesterday; Palladino is expected to return to action within a week and to be available for the LV = County Championship opener which starts on Thursday 5th April and continues through Easter Weekend.
“I can't wait to get back into cricket and fingers crossed this is just a small bump in the road,” Palladino said.
“I was back bowling nearly flat out after my hernia operation during the practices in Barbados and I was really pleased how it was going.
“Obviously it’s not ideal that this has happened but I think it could have been a lot worse and I'm just thanking god it didn’t hit me anywhere worse.
“I’m absolutely chomping at the bit to pull on my shirt again and get playing.”
