Derbyshire youngsters tackle the Tissington Trail for charity
Derbyshire’s Academy players are today tackling a 26 mile bike ride in aid of Alzheimer’s UK.
The Falcons contingent is cycling a return journey from Ashbourne via the Tissington Trail, both providing an acid test of their strength & conditioning as well as raising funds for a deserving cause.
All-rounder Matt Fletcher said: “A few of the guys have close links with Alzheimer issues within their families so the money we raise is going to an excellent cause, as well as having some real meaning to the guys taking part.”
A self-arranged charity fundraiser is one section of an Academy programme which encompasses so much more than the honing of cricketing skills.
The Academy syllabus incorporates classroom based tuition including cricket knowledge, the principles of strength & conditioning, nutrition, sports psychology and performance lifestyle training alongside the practical coaching sessions; fielding and in the nets.
