Junior Membership approaching an impressive landmark

KidsThree years on from attracting just 23 kids - Derbyshire County Cricket Club’s Junior Membership is closing in on 1,000.

A flurry of registrations today following a promotion which allowed juniors – and in fact all members – to bring guests to the ground for free has taken the figure to 994.

The Falcons took the decision to make junior membership free ahead of the 2010 season. An increase from 23 to 583 in their first season, plus an ECB Business of Cricket Award for Best Membership campaign, suggested it was the right decision.

Last year the figure rose to within 17 of 1,000 and – aided by an increase in the age threshold to 13 on 31st March 2012 – the figure looks set to break four figures during the current campaign, maybe even during the final two days of the current match versus Northamptonshire.

Free membership for juniors allows Derbyshire County Cricket Club to engage the supporters of the future and also attracts additional ticket revenue when parents/guardians bring their youngsters to matches.
