Constant rain has continued to thwart the start of Derbyshire's match against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl and with little sign of improvement, the umpires made the decision shortly after 2:30pm to abandon play for the second consecutive day without a ball being bowled.
The LV=County Championship match was due to begin yestersday, only for the weather to prevent a ball being bowled as the visitors look to cement their position at the top of the Division Two table.
Both teams will try again tomorrow with the weather outlook a lot more positive.
Derbyshire 12-man squad in full: Wayne Madsen (Captain), Paul Borrington, Martin Guptill, Wes Durston, Dan Redfern, Ross Whiteley, David Wainwright, Jonathan Clare, Tom Poynton (Wicketkeeper), Tim Groenewald, Tony Palladino and Mark Footitt.
Meanwhile at Belper, a rain-affected day saw Derbyshire 2nd XI close 94-7 against their Durham counterparts, having won the toss and elected to bat first.
In difficult conditions, the hosts had reached 90-7 at Lunch with Garry Park (21) and Chesney Hughes (19) the main contributors.
The Derbyshire score had progressed only to 94-7 post Lunch before rain curtailed play for the day with further rain ensuring no play before Tea on day two, with any play on the day looking unlikely.
