Krikken searching for winning habit as Unicorns open the Chesterfield Festival

ChesterfieldThe headline show of five days versus Yorkshire may be still to come – but Derbyshire Head Coach Karl Krikken is anticipating an entertaining Chesterfield Festival opener versus the Unicorns this Sunday (1.45pm start).

Krikken believes Queen’s Park is the perfect setting for limited-overs cricket and he’s determined to start the festival with a bang.

“We’re all looking forward to an exciting week of cricket and it’s the Unicorns first up,” he said.

“They will be our immediate focus; they’ve surprised counties in the past and we’re determined it won’t happen to us on Sunday.

“We have a young group of players and getting into the habit of winning games of one-day cricket is crucial to their development. Sunday is an opportunity to do just that.

“With short boundaries for the batsmen to aim at, but with enough assistance in the pitch to give the bowlers a fighting chance, entertaining cricket is pretty much guaranteed at Chesterfield.

“Add to that the beautiful surroundings of Queen’s Park, plus the lovely atmosphere created by spectators lining the boundary, and it really is the perfect venue.”

Supporters can save up to £3 per ticket by purchasing in advance of the day of the game. Tickets will be available on the gate priced at £16 adults, £8 juniors.
