Derbyshire have drafted-in Warwickshire wicketkeeper Richard Johnson on loan as injury cover for Tom Poynton.
Poynton, who has missed the last two games, had further scans this week and remains a doubt ahead of the forthcoming Chesterfield Festival of Cricket which takes place this week.
“Tom's injury is taking slightly longer to recover than first anticipated,” Head Coach Karl Krikken explained.
“Chris Durham has already come in and done a good job for us. However, we felt it would be wise to add a little more experience in this critical area of the squad ahead of a busy period of cricket."
Since making his first team debut for Warwickshire in 2008, Johnson, 23, has played 8 first-class games with a batting average of 19.41, plus 26 catches and two stumpings.
He joins the Derbyshire squad on a short-term loan basis and is available for Clydesdale Bank 40 selection versus the Unicorns tomorrow (Sunday) with a 1.45pm start at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield.
The weather forecast is positive and entry on the gate is priced at £16 adult, £8 juniors, £5 car parking.
The club is reminding supporters with a ticket for the recently cancelled fixture versus Nottinghamshire Outlaws, they can use their ticket to permit entry for two people for any day during the Chesterfield Festival, or indeed throughout the remainder of the season.
Car parking is available in a slight change from the usual location, situated just around the corner from Queen’s Park on Boythorpe Road. Stewards will be on hand to direct traffic. Car parking availability is limited so please arrive early.
