Karl Krikken’s men are in high spirits after last week’s crucial victory which saw them extend their lead at the top of the second division table to 26 points.
Now the table-toppers are looking to take their form into the shorter format of the game at what is forecast to be a sun-kissed County Ground tomorrow evening.
The Falcons’ previous floodlit fixture versus Kent Spitfires was heavily affected by rain. The outlook for tomorrow, however, is healthy with temperatures of up to 21 degrees forecast.
All-rounder Ross Whiteley is in line for a return to the side after injury. Wicketkeeper Richard Johnson, who scored a match-winning 79 in his most recent limited-overs outing versus Yorkshire Carnegie, will play after missing the Kent Spitfires fixture following a short-term recall to Warwickshire.
The Derbyshire 13-man squad in full is as follows: Chesney Hughes, Usman Khawaja, Wes Durston, Wayne Madsen (Captain), Dan Redfern, Ross Whiteley, Richard Johnson (Wicketkeeper), Alex Hughes, Jonathan Clare, David Wainwright, Tony Palladino, Tim Groenewald and Mark Turner.
Head Coach Karl Krikken said: ‘The victory over Kent was a superb result and showed just how much character we have in the squad.
‘We have a crucial month ahead and it’s important to go into all our games with a positive and confident frame of mind. We’re looking for a win on Wednesday to maintain the buzz around the Club and to finish as high in the group as possible.
‘The lads are looking forward to the challenge of facing the group leaders and in having a real say in the race for semi-final qualification.’
Aside from a rain-affected defeat against Kent Spitfires last Tuesday, the Falcons have been in good form in the CB40 with victory over the Unicorns followed by an impressive win over Yorkshire Carnegie; both at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield.
Sussex Sharks sit top of the group with 12 points from eight matches and they are likely to feature full internationals such as Ed Joyce, Murray Goodwin, Luke Wright, Scott Styris and Michael Yardy.
However, with second placed Warwickshire and third placed Kent in hot pursuit, each with a game in hand, the encounter with Derbyshire is of critical importance to the Hove-based county.
Derbyshire started brightly in the reverse fixture, restricting the hosts to 111-5 from 24 overs; Tim Groenewald starring with three wickets for 30 before rain brought a premature end to proceedings.
