Cricket Derbyshire unveils new duo

Derbyshire have captured the headlines with their on-field recruitment in recent weeks; but the recently recruited off-field duo of Ryan Duckett and Andrew Bowley could prove equally important.

The pair will help Derbyshire make unprecedented strides in the level of engagement with local communities across the county according to Chief Executive Simon Storey and Head of Development Howard Dytham.

Following the recent alignment of Derbyshire County Cricket Club and the Derbyshire Cricket Board under the umbrella of Cricket Derbyshire, the two organisations have pledged a consistent approach to the development of cricket from recreational level through to the professional game.

Duckett, who was responsible for the award-winning Bradford Bulls Community Foundation, will take on the newly inaugurated position of Director of Fundraising and Partnerships. His remit includes providing a self-funding and sustainable profile in the community; increasing public and private sector revenue and harnessing the power of cricket to make a positive impact on communities across Derbyshire.

Bowley, formerly of BMI, will become the Business and Relationships Manager of the Derbyshire Cricket Board; the arm of Cricket Derbyshire responsible for the recreational game. He will focus primarily on supporting the grass roots development of the game by building revenue-generating partnerships with the business community.

Bowley becomes a full-time employee of the Cricket Board while Duckett will be the first employee working under the new Cricket Derbyshire umbrella, jointly funded by the recreational Cricket Board and the professional County Cricket Club.

Storey said: “Our new recruits are leaders in their fields and each has an opportunity to break into uncharted territory for Cricket Derbyshire.

“Increased engagement with our community – whether at business, government or grass roots level – will help achieve our ongoing goal of inspiring ambition and purpose through cricket.

“Ryan and Andrew could prove to be our most pivotal new signings of the year as we increase our focus in this area and further expand our contribution beyond the boundary to the community of Derbyshire.”

Head of Development Howard Dytham added: “This is an exciting double appointment for both organisations and a reflection on the close partnership between DCCC and DCB under the Cricket Derbyshire umbrella.

“Andy’s and Ryan’s roles will complement each other to bring new resources into the recreational and professional game, therefore empowering us to make a positive difference in the community and to expand our strategy in other areas.

“We are targeting increased participation, especially among the adult population, as well as increased engagement at junior and business levels.

“Improving the commercial and community arms of the Derbyshire Cricket Board is a huge stride in the right direction as increased revenue and engagement will improve the quality of the services we provide to the recreational and developmental game.”
