Members of Derbyshire County Cricket Club have this week been receiving Information Packs outlining proposed changes to the Committee governance structure of the club.
The proposal follows a General Committee Meeting on 28th January, 2013 when the Committee voted in favour of a leaner and more professional body to better represent the Club and its Membership and also to pave the way to secure ECB funding for significant ground development.
The Committee is recommending the Club moves to a model similar to that used by mutual building societies with an elected Supervisory Board of Directors comprising six individuals with the specific skills required to help run the business. These changes would ensure a better-equipped Supervisory Board to run the Club on behalf of the Members.
Under the new proposal, the current membership model of Derbyshire CCC would be retained. Members would continue to elect the Supervisory Board as is current practice with the General Committee, and there would no change in the ownership structure of the Club. Furthermore, all of the roles on the newly-constituted Supervisory Board would continue to be unpaid.
The club’s membership has been invited to attend Members’ forums when the Committee’s proposals will be outlined further followed by an opportunity to ask questions about the changes.
The forums will take place at 7pm at the Gateway Centre, The County Ground, Derby on Monday 25th February 2013, and The Pavilion, Queen’s Park, Chesterfield on Monday 4th March 2013.
The ‘Postal Only’ ballot is now open and votes will be accepted up until 5pm on Tuesday 26th March 2013.
Members have also been invited to a Special General Meeting which will immediately follow the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 27th March 2013 at which the Committee will announce the result of the postal ballot.
Any Derbyshire supporter not currently a member but wishing to vote will be eligible providing they sign up to 2013 membership prior to the closing ballot date of 5pm on March 26th March; with packs available upon joining from Reception.
Any member yet to receive their information pack should also contact Alexa.
