As we countdown to the first LV= CC fixture at the County Ground against Nottinghamshire on April 24th, we look at some of the iconic images from Derbyshire’s triumphant 2012 campaign. Today is Paul Borrington and Martin Guptill – May 25th, v Essex.
Paul Borrington and Martin Guptill congratulate each other after securing Derbyshire’s first win in a Championship game at Chelmsford for 75 years.
A superb 116 from Wes Durston ensured that Derbys secured a healthy 141-run lead at the half-way mark. Three wickets apiece for Tim Groenewald and David Wainwright reduced Essex to 234 in their second innings, leaving the visitors chasing 94 for victory.
On Day 3, Derbyshire emphatically reach their target as opener Borrington and Guptill knocked off the required runs in 18 overs, with 30 and 66 respectively to claim a famous 10-wicket victory. It maintained Derbyshire unbeaten start to the new campaign, as Karl Krikken’s side set the early Division Two pace.
