Karl Krikken’s men will have little time to reflect on this week’s nine-wicket defeat against a Stuart Broad inspired Nottinghamshire side, as Derbyshire travel to Headingley Carnegie to face Yorkshire tomorrow.
After four highly-competitive days against a Nottinghamshire side that contained no less than eight internationals, Derbyshire will now be looking to secure their first win of the season against Yorkshire, which begins tomorrow (Monday 29th April) at 11am.
Derbyshire have enjoyed the better of their recent visits to Headingley, claiming two draws and a victory in their last three Championship fixtures at the ground.
Yorkshire’s squad for the fixture will be bolstered by the inclusion of England trio Joe Root, Tim Bresnan and Jonny Bairstow, all of which played their part in their four-wicket win over Durham this week.
First team coach Jason Gillespie has, however, made one change as seamer Ryan Sidebottom has been rested and all-rounder Richard Pyrah has been included in their 12-man squad.
Krikken has included duo Chesney Hughes and Mark Footitt in Derbyshire’s 13-man squad after both impressed in the 2nd XI’s five-wicket victory at Belper this week.
Krikken said: “Footitt was at The County Ground for the final day against Notts and he took 6 for 71 for the second team this week so he will be in consideration tomorrow.
“We will also bring Chesney in who also had a good second team game as well. We will have a chat over the next day and see what will be best for when we face Yorkshire tomorrow morning.
“But the squad are trying not to get too down after the Nottinghamshire game. There is good spirit in the changing room and the lads are always up for it. We’ll go to Yorkshire fighting.”
Yorkshire’s 12-man squad in full is as follows: Jonny Bairstow, Gary Ballance, Tim Bresnan, Jack Brooks, Andrew Gale (Captain), Phil Jaques, Adam Lyth, Steve Patterson, Liam Plunkett, Richard Pyrah, Adil Rashid, Joe Root.
