Head Coach Karl Krikken is looking forward to getting Derbyshire’s Yorkshire Bank 40 campaign back underway as the squad prepares for a Bank Holiday weekend double header against Scotland and Durham.
With most teams in Group B already playing three or four fixtures, Derbyshire’s LV= County Championship Division One commitments has limited the county to just one match, which ended in a No Result against Lancashire at the beginning of May.
The Falcons will be hoping their double header against Scotland on Sunday and Durham the day after will provide the perfect platform as they side aim to claim their first wins in this year’s competition.
“We are looking forward to getting back into the competition after our wash-out against Lancashire earlier this month,” Krikken said. “We obviously haven’t started our campaign really yet. Some Club’s have played three or four games already so we will be looking to start with a victory on Sunday against the Saltires.
“The time we have had before the Scotland game has given us the opportunity to get into the white ball and has given us the chance to work hard to help us improve and move forward. We enjoyed a successful T20 friendly this week and an internal practice game which has given plenty of time facing the white ball.
“We have a good athletic squad, but we know that we are still learning with the white ball. I believe, however, that we have got the players that can compete and do well in the competition.
“You obviously want to go as far in all competitions and the main aim is of course to win it. We want to go out there and win every game and it is no different in the 40-over competition.”
