Fire safety partnership to be launched at Surrey showdown

dfrsDerbyshire Fire & Rescue Service and Derbyshire County Cricket Club have launched a groundbreaking community partnership ahead of the Yorkshire Bank 40 fixture versus Surrey on Wednesday.

The new relationship between the two organisations will see the County Club assist the Fire Service in raising awareness of fire safety practices such as Don’t get caught out – test your smoke alarms weekly.

This awareness drive will start with a fire engine, smoke house simulator and fire prevention team in attendance throughout Wednesday’s half-term floodlit encounter which starts at 4.40pm with an expected finish at 10.25pm.

Derbyshire Director of Partnerships Ryan Duckett said: “We are delighted to embark on a mutually beneficial partnership with Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service.

“They are available to respond to calls across Derbyshire every minute of every day, their vehicles are seen by thousands and their community work is extremely valuable to the safety of our local community.

“It’s great that we can use our supporter engagement to help spread Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Services’ safety messages; and we look forward to welcoming their hard working fire-fighters to the County Ground.”

Deputy Chief Fire Officer Andy Waldie said: “Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service is delighted to be working in partnership with Derbyshire County Cricket Club and we welcome this fantastic opportunity to engage with supporters.

“As a fire and rescue service, it is vital that we continually work to raise the awareness of fire safety and we therefore hope that the partnership with Derbyshire County Cricket Club continues well into the future.”

The Club is encouraging families to attend Wednesday’s match with a special half-term ticket offer of £15 for one adult and two juniors; £20 for two adults and two juniors alongside an already family friendly ticket policy.

General advanced tickets are priced at £12 adults, £4 juniors, £4 car parking. Entry on the day is priced at £16 adults, £5 juniors, £5 car parking.
