Shivnarine Chanderpaul has donated a money-can't-buy prize to support Balls-to-Cancer in memory of the late David Smyth.
Derbyshire CCC has donated an hour’s coaching from world number two Test batsman to the silent auction being run by the staff at Virgin Active to battle testicular cancer in the wake of David's death from the disease earlier this summer.
David, who was a keen and very able cricketer for Derbyshire County League side Stainsby Hall tragically passed away after a short battle with the disease earlier this year. His colleagues at the Virgin Active gym, where he worked as a personal trainer, hope to raise money through the auction as well as other fund raising activities for their chosen charity ‘Balls to Cancer’.
DCCC hopes that the opportunity to take in an hour’s coaching with one of the games all time greats will assist a fantastic cause at this sad time.
