Derbyshire County Cricket Club is raising money for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds throughout the summer of cricket.
Falcon pin badges, in line with the Club’s one-day nickname, Derbyshire Falcons, are available to supporters at the County Ground in return for donations to the RSPB following a recent visit from senior representatives of the charity.
Badges can be obtained for a donation of £1 from the Club Shop, Ticket Office and Reception at the County Ground at any time or from the Jackson & Gladwin Suite Members’ lounge on match-days.
Derbyshire County Cricket Club Committee Member Tony Borrington said: “We are very happy to support the RSPB local group and this is particularly appropriate bearing in mind their smart falcons badges link in with the Club name for one day cricket.
Head Coach Karl Krikken has confirmed Derbyshire’s interest in signing Worcestershire bowler Richard Jones and says strengthening the squad for the future is an ongoing process.
The Falcons served Worcestershire with the required 28 days notice to open discussions with the 25-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
Jones made his first-class debut for the New Road outfit in 2007. He has gone on to take 124 wickets in 39 first-class matches to date.
The 2012 campaign is proving to be particularly productive for the Stourbridge-born paceman who has so far taken 29 wickets, in seven LV= County Championship matches, at an average of 24.44.

The Derbyshire Falcons fell to defeat against the Durham Dynamos by five wickets in the Friends Life t20 at the County Ground on Wednesday.
Derbyshire came into the match unchanged, and when Falcons’ captain Wayne Madsen won the toss on a used wicket under sunny skies, he had no hesitation in batting first.
However the innings got off to a shaky start when May’s FTI Most Valuable Player Wes Durston nicked a catch behind off Liam Plunkett that ricocheted off the Mustard’s gloves before looping into the hands of Gareth Breese at first slip; the Derbyshire opener departing for a duck.

Derbyshire Falcons’ next Friends Life t20 action is on Monday against Yorkshire Carnegie after no play was possible versus Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge tonight.
As is the nature with the FLt20, the games come thick and fast, and this week at the County Ground is no different as the Falcons take on Yorkshire Carnegie on Monday at 7.10pm followed quickly with a visit from the Durham Dynamos on Wednesday, June the 20th.
The games will be a stern test for the Falcons early in their campaign, as both oppositions are littered with international talent, although Derbyshire enjoyed victories against both sides during the 2011 campaign.
“The two sides are obviously top outfits, but the way we’ve played our cricket this year; we won’t be taking a back ward step from anyone,” Derbyshire all-rounder Wes Durston said.
