Boundary Club 2012

Boundary Club Luncheon

+ Derbyshire v Hampshire in the race for promotion.
Tuesday, 11th september, 12 noon for 12:30pm

Featuring Derbyshire 1990 Sunday League and 1993 Benson & Hedges Cup winner Peter Bowler. Then stay for what will be an exciting and important game in Derbyshire’s race for promotion.

Peter Bowler is one of cricket’s most jovial and entertaining characters.

The batsman brought the curtains down on a long and successful career at the age of 41, having scored close to 20,000 First-Class runs with no fewer than 45 centuries.

As well as spells at Leicestershire and Somerset – where he captained the Taunton club for two seasons in the 1990s – Bowler enjoyed a successful period here at Derbyshire; where he is still remembered very fondly.

Bowler was a regular at the County Ground from 1988 to 1994 and was capped by the county in 1989. The Devon-born occasional wicketkeeper was a huge part of the 1990 Sunday League winning side and just as integral in the Benson and Hedges Cup winning squad of 1993.

If being part of two of Derbyshire’s four trophy-winning sides wasn’t enough, Bowler held the Derbyshire record of highest score on debut - 155* - for 11 years before being surpassed by Wayne Madsen in 2009.

Having gone into law upon retirement, Bowler is also developing a fast-growing reputation as one of the most humorous and entertaining guest speakers on the circuit.
