Role

Derbyshire County Cricket Club (DCCC) is one of only eighteen first-class counties and represents the City of Derby and wider County of Derbyshire on the national professional cricketing stage. The team was recently promoted as Champions to Division 1 of the LV= County Championship and boasts an exciting young squad augmented by senior professional players.

Following the international relocation of the current S&C coach, an exciting opportunity has arisen at the Club for an ambitious and skilled individual with the necessary qualifications and experience. We are looking to recruit a new S&C Coach who will support our ambitious plans for the future by optimising the physical condition of cricketers at all levels including the professional squad.

Reporting direct to the Head Coach and the Academy Director, the successful candidate will become an integral member of the multi-disciplinary support team in an elite and competitive sporting environment.

DCCC's blueprint for cricketing success based is upon the development of home-grown talent. The Strength & Conditioning Coach will provide cricketers throughout this pyramid structure with the knowledge, motivation and resources to prepare their bodies for action and reduce the risk of injury. This will include offering nutritional advice and setting overall standards, as well as preparing tailored programmes to specific individuals.

Cricket Derbyshire has also recently announced a breakthrough Academy partnership with the University of Derby and the S&C will be also responsible for supporting the County Age Groups teams, the mini-Academy and managing the internship programme and sports partnership programme with the University.

SALARY: Salary IRO £25,000-30,000 per annum; negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.

HOURS: 37 hours per week, this may include weekends and evenings.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Essential

  • UKSCA accreditation or ability to achieve this within 6 months
  • Qualification at degree level in Sport Science or Strength & Conditioning
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (including presentation skills)

Desirable

  • Masters in Sports Science and/or Strength and Conditioning
  • Minimum two years of experience in the provision of strength and conditioning services to elite athletes including work with high performance teams or squads.
  • Understanding of Long Term Athletic Development and its application to cricket
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary, integrated, sporting environment
  • Experience in the design, implementation and monitoring of strength and conditioning programmes for elite cricketers
  • Experience of playing and/or understanding of Cricket
  • Research and development experience in strength and conditioning and injury prevention/rehab
  • Experience in the preparation and delivery of CPD Workshops and conference presentations
