CRICKET DERBYSHIRE FOUNDATION FREE SUMMER COACHING OFF TO A FLYER

Pavilion

Thursday 7 August, 2014
Derbyshire County Cricket Club has submitted a planning application to Derby City Council ahead of proposed ground development.

The Club shared its vision for a multi-million ground development scheme at The 3aaa County Ground  to members at the March AGM and providing permission is obtained, is aiming to commence work on this first phase during the close season.

Phase one of the development will see the Gateway Centre renovated into a state of the art cricket centre of excellence and pavilion, whilst also renovating the Lund Pavilion to create better facilities for members, supporters, sponsors and conference & events customers.

The vision remains to also improve seating facilities around the boundary to create an amphitheatre capable of hosting various levels of international and tourist cricket as well as concerts and community events.

The Club has already secured grant funding of £1.7million following the introduction of the Supervisory Board at the AGM in 2013 and the subsequent approval of the Club’s business plan by the ECB.

There is also potential for additional funding, derived from projected commercial income through ICC global events, which could substantially increase the available pot of money during forthcoming years, to the region of £4million.

PavilionChief Executive Simon Storey said: “We need to support our ambitions for success on the field with first-class facilities for players, members, spectators and our business customers.

“It’s all about improving the customer experience so they will choose to come back to The 3aaa County Ground time and time again.

“Improved customer facilities, within the Lund Pavilion, will be there for our members to enjoy and also to support growth in the conference & events arm of our business.

“We’re building, both on and off the field, for an exciting future; a future where business growth, supported by improved facilities, will allow us to increase revenue and therefore invest more in achieving success on the field.”

Injury Update

CricketDerbyshireThis page will give Derbyshire Members and supporters the latest news about player injuries, as well as an update on their recovery and when they are expected to return to action.

Tom Poynton

Poynton has been ruled out for the 2014 season due to injury. His rehabilitation has been progressing well and he is on track to enjoy a full pre-season ahead of the 2015 campaign.

Tom Poynton said: "My leg is going very well. I'm progressing well in terms of my rehab; I've had no set-backs along the way and hopefully I'll be fully fit by November.

"The aim is to have a full pre-season. The guys are back in for pre-season on November 4, so if I can be fully functional by that time to participate in all the activities then that would be brilliant."

Jonathan Clare

After a long spell on the sidelines, Jonathan Clare is continuing to work with medical staff and the Strength & Conditioning Coach. He featured in the Second XI One-Day Trophy match versus Warwickshire in early August and his fitness is being reviewed.
