Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Wes Durston are in Derbyshire’s 13-man squad for the LV= County Championship clash against Middlesex at the County Ground; beginning on Tuesday, 20th August (11am start).
World number two Test batsman Chanderpaul and all-rounder Durston return after missing the Falcons’ mid-week Yorkshire Bank 40 victory over Durham due to injury. The pair is joined in Karl Krikken’s matchday squad by paceman Tony Palladino who is set to feature in his first four-day fixture since mid-June.
Cricket Derbyshire University of Derby Academy graduates Ben Slater, Peter Burgoyne, Alex Hughes and Matt Higginbottom, meanwhile, are all included in the squad to face Middlesex after playing leading roles in the recent victory over Sussex.
Dan Redfern, however, has been ruled out with a long-term injury and is set to miss the remainder of the season.
Middlesex will be without former Derbyshire Captain Chris Rogers due to his participation in the 5th Investec Ashes Test at the Kia Oval. But Steven Finn, who is in England's 14-man squad, will be available to play at Derby on Day Two, Three and Four if released.
Derbyshire enter this week’s fixture knowing victory could lift them outside the bottom two in Division One, with fixtures against Surrey and Somerset still remaining.
Wayne Madsen, meanwhile, requires just 31 runs against Middlesex this week to reach 1000 runs in first-class cricket and 49 for 1000 LV= County Championship Division One runs this season.
