The Cricket Derbyshire Book Shop is celebrating a second landmark after reaching its £2,000 sales target for the season; thanks to the hard work of volunteers – and the generosity of Members and supporters.
Sales have soared since the shop underwent a refurbishment prior to the start of the 2013 campaign, with all proceeds supporting the development of young Derbyshire cricketers.
The shop raced past its original £1,000 sales target for the whole season in June, and now a revised £2,500 target has been set after reaching the £2,000 mark during the recent four-day fixture with Middlesex.
Shop co-ordinator Phil Kirby is thanking members and supporters for their wonderful support, both in the purchase of books and in donating items for sale.
The ambition is now that the shop can help pay for an additional summer contracted player to be developed by the club.
Phil Kirby said: “We are delighted with the support we have received from Members and supporters throughout the season.
“We have a team of 18 volunteers who have worked tirelessly, giving up their own time to help make the shop a success – and without them it would not have happened.
“This really has been a sterling effort by all volunteers, thier help and support is very much appreciated.
“There are still two four-day games coming up and the Yorkshire Bank 40 game with Hampshire, so we now hope to reach our new revised target of £2,500.”
Additional donations of stock are warmly appreciated and can be dropped off to the shop or reception at the Gateway Centre.
Larger quantities can be collected from within the Derby area with arrangements to be made by contacting Phil Kirby on 01332 835152.
