Peter Burgoyne hailed a fantastic team performance after Derbyshire secured their second straight LV= County Championship win with victory over Middlesex at the County Ground.
The 19-year-old claimed the match’s final wicket to seal a thrilling 56-run win on Day Four, moving Karl Krikken’s side out of the bottom two in Division One.
Burgoyne was thrilled to play his part in a famous win and looked ahead to the upcoming fixtures against the two lower placed sides, Somerset and Surrey.
"It's been a fantastic team performance,” Burgoyne said. “We are now no longer in the relegation zone and everyone is over the moon. There were a few nerves at one stage especially during the Ollie Rayner and Gareth Berg stand, but everyone stayed calm enough and the result came at the end.
"The dressing room is more upbeat now. We went through a tough spell at the start of the season, but now after gaining more Division One experience we are getting a lot better and getting the results.
"It's now good to see that we have gone above both Surrey and Somerset, and we are now looking forward to the next two Championship games against them both. Everyone will be looking forward to them. It will be a good experience to play at the Kia Oval and Taunton and if we get a positive result at either place then we will have a very good chance of staying up.”
