Wayne Madsen became the first player to retain Derbyshire County Cricket Club's Player of the Year award outright since the turn of the century at last night's presentation evening.
The 29-year-old scooped the prestigious prize for a second straight year in recognition for an impressive 2013 season in which he hit 1,628 runs and became the first man to reach 1,000 Championship runs, achieving the feat against Middlesex at the County Ground, Derby in August.
He also captained the side admirably, leading the team to three LV= County Championship Division One victories in Derbyshire's first season back in the top flight for over a decade.
Chesney Hughes, meanwhile, picked up two awards; Yorkshire Bank 40 Player of the Year and the Eddie Barlow Inspirational Performance Award for his record-breaking unbeaten 270 against Yorkshire at Headingley Carnegie back in April.
