Leaders from the North East Derbyshire School Sport Partnership descended on the County Ground to hold their first Sport Media Academy workshop.
Youngsters from schools in the North East Derbyshire area were treated to a day’s workshop led by media professionals designed to enhance their knowledge and skills in photography, social media and journalism.
The Club kindly opened up their ground for the leaders to access all areas to report on Day One of Derbyshire’s final fixture of the season against Warwickshire on Tuesday, 24th September.
In the afternoon, the leaders had the opportunity to interview fast bowler Mark Turner, as the inquisitive youngsters asked the 28-year-old about Derbyshire’s first season back in the top flight.
From this, the leaders were given the task to devise a multimedia live programme, with a package featuring the interview in only 30 minutes. The leaders rose to their sturdy challenge and produced an outstanding live programme to camera with an audio report, photographic slideshow, live twitter feed, written match report and colour piece.
A spokesperson from the Sport Media Academy said: “The day was a huge success with media leaders benefiting greatly from the experience.
“The leaders have gone on to report on local primary and secondary events and competitions on behalf of North East Derbyshire School Sport Partnership.
“We would like to thank Derbyshire County Cricket Club for allowing us to use their facilities and speak with members of staff and with Mark.”
