Third-year Academy member Harvey Hosein spoke of his pride after being selected for the England Performance Development programme for a third straight year.
The young wicketkeeper has a busy winter ahead of him as he travels the country to join up with the England Development programme while resuming his training commitments with the Cricket Derbyshire Academy in partnership with University of Derby.
Hosein is hoping a good off-season will help him have an impact for both the Derbyshire Academy and Second XI in 2014.
“I’m really looking forward to another year on the Academy working with the coaches here at Derby,” he said.
“The dedicated coaching staff at the Club will help us cover all the relevant areas as we continue with our developments. They help your all-round game and set you up perfectly for professional cricket.
“It’s my third years on the England Performance Development programme this winter. There’s a lot of high-pressure training and it’s good to do both programmes together and get the most out of it.
“It’s nice to be recognised and have the opportunity to go forward and do well.
“Hopefully it will help me next year as I want to make more of an impact in the Second XI. I had a good year with the Academy last year and I hope to take that forward into 2014.
“But I’ve got to perform next year and then hopefully the rewards will come. But first we’ve got a lot of work to do this winter.”
