2014 Fixtures Announced

ShivnarineChanderpaulDerbyshire will host more Friday night cricket than ever before as part of a new-look domestic calendar for the 2014 season.

The County Ground will stage four Friday night fixtures in the new NatWest T20 Blast competition next summer including the traditional East Midlands derby versus Nottinghamshire Outlaws on Friday 6th June.

As part of an action-packed season, Derbyshire will also host a three-day tour match against world number two Test side India on Tuesday 1st July in MS Dhoni’s men’s final warm-up ahead of the Investec Test series with England.

Then, less than a week later – at the height of the English summer - Wayne Madsen’s side return to the Queen’s Park for the Chesterfield Festival of Cricket.

Derbyshire’s picturesque northern outpost will host two NatWest T20 Blast games – against Leicestershire Foxes and Yorkshire Vikings – which will bookend a four-day clash with Essex, starting Monday 7th July.

The new season kicks-off with a trip to Grace Road as Karl Krikken’s men face Leicestershire in their LV= County Championship opener starting on Sunday 6th April.

As part of the new-look calendar, four-day fixtures will begin predominately on Sundays, with Derbyshire accommodating six Sunday starts at the County Ground next year.

Head Coach Karl Krikken: “The fixture announcement is always an exciting time as we begin to plan for the new campaign.

“The Club has been working hard to secure the likes of Wayne Madsen and Mark Footitt for 2014 in the face of interest from other counties, and we have ambitions for a successful year in all formats.

“Twenty20 fixtures on Friday nights, under the floodlights, are also an exciting prospect and we look forward to some big crowds getting behind us as they did last year in those big matches.

“It will also be a pleasure to return Queen’s Park which has become something of a second home in recent years and will be the perfect place for a magnificent week of cricket.”
