New signing Stephen Moore is hoping to win silverware with his new Club.
The former England Lions, Lancashire and Worcestershire opener has signed a two-year contract with Derbyshire.
The 32-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the dressing room after amassing over 8,800 runs at an average of 36.39 during his first-class career spanning over a decade.
Moore, who highlighted the involvement of Captain Wayne Madsen as a key factor in his decision to join the Club, is looking forward to playing his part in a successful future.
“I’m really looking forward to the prospect of representing Derbyshire,” he said.
“When I got told about the interest from Derbyshire and I had conversations with Wayne [Madsen], it was an easy decision to join.
“Speaking with Wayne was a big factor. We spoke a lot about his vision for the Club, where he wants to take it and I’m also really excited about the Elite Cricket Performance structure that’s recently been introduced.
“I think it’s a really good direction for the Club. The squad has experienced success in 2012 and we want to replicate that over the next few years.
“As I enter the latter stages of my career I’m not looking for anything personal. My goal is a team goal and that’s winning trophies.
“My focus will be looking at trying to bring silverware to Derbyshire and I will do everything I can do to contribute to that.”
Along with contributing with the bat, Moore hopes he can help in the development of young players.
“I think myself and the rest of the squad have a responsibility to build an environment which will allow talented youngsters to come through; and allow us to compete in all competitions for seasons to come.
“There is a good group of guys at the Club, quite a young squad but talented. A lot of them have tasted success before in 2012, so they know what it’s like to win and they’ve had experience of Division One as well.
“I’ve been lucky enough to win some silverware during my career with Lancashire and Worcestershire. I’ve been fortunate to play with some very talented cricketers and I hope that experience will help me here.”
