New recruit Stephen Moore is looking forward to an exciting 2014 with Derbyshire.
The former Worcestershire, Lancashire and England Lions opening batsman signed a two-year deal with the county last month and is now set for his first week at the County Ground, as Wayne Madsen’s men report back to training on Monday.
After listening to the Club's long-term ambitions, Moore is excited about the future and hopes he can contribute both on and off the field to a successful 2014 campaign.
“I think it’s exciting times with the squad and I’m excited about the future,” Moore said.
“I had the chance to meet the squad before the Christmas break and listen to the Club's long-term ambitions. I also had a chance to chat to a few of the younger lads who I hadn’t really spoken much to before, so that was good.
“I’ve been training during the off-season keeping my fitness levels up and I’m now looking forward to joining up with the squad next week in Derby.
“Over the last few weeks I’ve enjoyed Christmas with the family, but now I’m set for what sets to be an exciting 2014.”
Moore is looking forward to playing his part in a successful future and has drawn on his own experiences to aid him in his quest to bring silverware to Derbyshire.
“The aim is to get back to Division One. If we can also claim a trophy in the one-day arena then that would be the perfect scenario.
“I’ve been lucky enough to win some silverware during my career with Lancashire and Worcestershire. I’ve been fortunate to play with some very talented cricketers and I hope that experience will help me here.
“Around that, the important thing is building a legacy long-term with the Elite Cricket Performance which is being put in place.”
