Derbyshire will conclude their preparations for the 2014 season with a two-day friendly against Warwickshire at the County Ground.
Graeme Welch’s men will entertain the 2011 LV= County Champions in a two-day match commencing Thursday 27th March, 11am start, ahead of the new season which begins with a three-day first-class match against Durham MCCU on April 1st; also at the County Ground.
Entry to both fixtures are FREE of charge as supporters get a chance to see the squad on home soil ahead of the 2014 LV= County Championship campaign.
The two-day friendly against Jim Troughton’s side will follow Derbyshire’s pre-season tour of Abu Dhabi between 7th and 16th March.
Thanks to the support from supporters and local businesses, the squad will spend nine days at the state of the art Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium conducting warm-weather training and competing in fixtures against fellow first-class county Worcestershire and international outfit New Zealand.
Elite Performance Director, Graeme Welch said: “This final warm-up fixture against Warwickshire will be a good exercise to see exactly where we are prior to our opening Championship fixture with Leicestershire.
“It will be good for the squad to get out in the middle against a strong Warwickshire side at the County Ground and get some bowling and batting under our belts before the serious stuff begins.”
Derbyshire will travel to Grace Road for the opening LV= County Championship Division Two fixture with Leicestershire on Sunday 6th April.
The County Ground will host its first four-day fixture of 2014 season against Hampshire on Sunday 20th April. Click here to buy tickets >>
