Derbyshire set for pre-season tour

Derbyshire’s cricketers are less than two weeks away from embarking on their third pre-season tour of Barbados.

The Falcons will play matches versus Leicestershire and Yorkshire, plus a Twenty20 tournament at the Kensington Oval, as they step up their preparations for the 2012 season.

Arriving in the Caribbean on Friday 16th March, the Falcons will practice for two days before facing Leicestershire in a 40-over match at Carlton on Monday 19th March.

The Twenty20 tournament at the national stadium commences with a match versus Yorkshire on Tuesday 20th March. The Cup and Plate Finals then take place at Kensington Oval and alternative venues two days later, Thursday 22nd March.

The squad will then have a further practice day on which to prepare for the two day fixture versus Yorkshire which takes place at Wanderers on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th March.

Additional matches have been arranged for squad players from all counties to gain their match practice.

The Falcons leave the Caribbean on Tuesday 27th March then play a 40-over friendly against Yorkshire at the County Ground, Derby, on Saturday 31st March.

Warwickshire are then the visitors for the final pre-season fixture on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd April.
