They will provide commentary on all Derbyshire matches, at The 3aaa County Ground and away from home in the LV= County Championship, Royal London One-Day Cup and NatWest T20 Blast competitions.
Former New Zealand international cricketer Iain O’Brien - who played 22 Tests for New Zealand between 2005 and 2009, taking 73 wickets, and has broadcast experience with Test Match Special – will be BBC Radio Derby’s new commentator in 2014.
Chief Executive Simon Storey said: “We are delighted with the plans and ambitions BBC Radio Derby have mapped out for the new season.
“It is great that supporters will once again be able to listen to ball-by-ball commentary from every Derbyshire fixture which supporters can follow at home and at work.
"It's also terrific news that the BBC are looking to extend and increase their coverage of our Friday night NatWest T20 Blast matches; something that will really bring the occasion to life for those who aren't able to come and experience it for themselves at the 3aaa County Ground.
"We're looking forward to working with Iain and helping him understand our ambitions for the Club. With his international cricket experience, he is well-placed to provide some valuable insight and he joins with an exciting season ahead as we seek to regain Division One status and progress in the limited overs competitions."
O’Brien said: “It’s a privilege to be joining BBC Radio Derby to cover Derbyshire in the 2014 season.
“We’ll be bringing you action from every game – from Chelmsford to Cheltenham, New Road to Wantage Road, Old Trafford to The Oval.
“I’m looking forward to hearing from listeners with their thoughts and opinions."
BBC Radio Derby’s ball-by-ball commentary will commence with the LV= County Championship opener at Leicestershire on April 6.
The first home commentary from The 3aaa County Ground is versus Hampshire starting Sunday 20th April.
Coverage is on 1116 AM and online.
