The 25-year-old top scored on the final day against Warwickshire striking 12 fours and a six on his way to an unbeaten century, before retiring on exactly a hundred.
Wayne Madsen (63 not out) and Stephen Moore (50) both also chipped in with half-centuries on what was a good day for the Derbyshire batsmen.
“It was a good day as was gained plenty of time in the middle,” Godleman said.
“We had a tricky session on Thursday evening to navigate and we did well to value our wickets. Then on the second morning I managed to get myself in against the new ball and I played my shots after lunch.
“As an opening batsman, pre-season is vital as we try and get as much time as possible out in the middle. Netting is good but there’s nothing like time in the middle.
“So the time out there against Warwickshire was very beneficial and I was pleased with how I went.
“I think overall it’s been an excellent pre-season. We’ve had some exposure to lots of varying conditions both overseas and here at the 3aaa County Ground which will put us in good stead this year.
“We’re now confident as a group that we can start well beginning with Durham University on Tuesday.”
