Chesney Hughes top scored with 80, but Nottinghamshire Second XI claimed a three-wicket win in a thrilling One-Day Trophy clash at Notts Sports Club.
After losing the toss and inserted to bat first, Derbyshire posted 260-8 off their 50 overs, led by a powerful innings from Hughes. The opening batsman hit 11 fours and one six in his 80 off just 69 balls.
He shared a 108-run stand with all-rounder Jonathan Clare, who added 59 off 73 balls (3 fours, 2 sixes) to help their side recover from 61-3 to 203-5. Tom Wood added 28 runs at the end of the innings to push Derbyshire onto 260-8.
Mark Turner (1-58) claimed an early wicket in reply, but Matty Cross responded to top-score with 80 off 113 balls (4 fours). Sam Wood (52) and Steven Mullaney (55) also contributed, both hitting half-centuries, as Nottinghamshire moved onto 232-3.
But Derbyshire fought back claiming four late wickets to renew hopes of victory, but an unbeaten 11 from Paul Franks saw his side home with two overs to spare. Matt Higginbottom was the pick of the bowlers, returning figures of 2-33 of his six overs.
