Alex Lees’ quick-fire 67 helped guide Yorkshire to victory in front of over 4,000 supporters at Queen's Park on the final day of the Old Speckled Hen Chesterfield Festival of Cricket, in association with Chesterfield Borough Council.
Lees hit four fours and three sixes in his 44-ball knock while New Zealand international Kane Williamson added 41 as Yorkshire posted 183-4 off 20 overs.
Gareth Cross led the Derbyshire reply striking 37 off just 19 balls, but the hosts lost regular wickets to be dismissed for 124.
After being asked to bat first, the Vikings got off to quick start thanks to Williamson, as the opening batsman smashed 41 off just 26 balls (7 fours, 1 six) as the visitors moved to 79-1 after nine overs.
Marcus North removed Williamson during a prosperous period for the Falcons who restricted Yorkshire to 99-3 midway through the 13th over. North was the pick of the bowlers returning figures of 2-27 off his four overs.
But Lees and Andrew Gale regrouped to add 65 for the fourth wicket in just 6.2 overs to move their side to 164-4 in the penultimate over.
Gale hit 34 off 20 balls (4 fours, 1 six) while Lees top scored with 67 off 44 balls (4 fours, 3 sixes) as the Vikings posted 183-4 off their 20 overs.
Despite an early loss, the Derbyshire reply got off to good start courtesy of Cross. The wicketkeeper-batsman smashed 37 off just 19 balls, including four fours and three sixes, as the hosts accelerated to 46-2 midway through the fifth over.
But the Falcons lost a flurry of wickets during the middle overs to slip to 78-7 in the 13th over, with only Marcus North (20) reaching double figures. Tom Knight produced some late fireworks striking three sixes in his 27 off 15 balls, but it wasn’t enough as Derbyshire were all out for 124
Azeem Rafiq was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors with figures of 3-26 off four overs.
