Derbyshire completed their second successive LV= County Championship victory with a six-wicket win over Glamorgan at The 3aaa County Ground.
Mark Footitt yesterday took career-best figures of 6-48, and claimed his 50th first-class wicket of the season, as Glamorgan were bowled out for 175 to leave Derbyshire with target of 73 to win.
Ben Slater (20), Wayne Madsen (19*) and Wes Durston (13*) saw their side to victory with six wickets to spare on the morning of Day Three, with Graeme Welch's men claiming 20 points.
Derbyshire began the morning needing a further 60 runs to win after closing on 13-1 last night.
Madsen went early for 19, caught by Murray Goodwin off the bowling of Michael Hogan. Overseas star Shivnnarine Chanderpaul (11) fell soon after, edging Will Owen down the leg-side for wicketkeeper Mark Wallace to take a superb one-handed catch.
The final Derbyshire wicket to fall in the match was that of Slater, Derbyshire's top-scorer with 20, who edged the spin of Dean Cosker through to Wallace behind the stumps.
Durston and Hughes (2*), however, took Derbyshire over the line, with Durston pulling the winning runs through the leg-side to give Derbyshire victory by six wickets over Glamorgan and take them up to sixth in the LV= County Championship Division Two table.
Elite Performance Director, Graeme Welch said: “We are starting to have a bit more belief in ourselves and the method of playing four day cricket.
“We are staying in the game for long periods of time and the lads are putting some good performances in together.”
