Tony Palladino says the squad are determined to get back on track in the Royal London One-Day Cup when they face Essex at The 3aaa County Ground on Sunday 10 August; 10.30am start.
Palladino returned career-best figures of 5-49 yesterday, but Derbyshire fell short against Lancashire at Derby, their first loss in the new rebranded tournament.
“Obviously I’m very happy with my own personal performance but I think as a team we are disappointed as how many we let them get to," Palladino said. "If we had been at our best, we would have been able to restrict them to around 280.
“We didn’t quite get the rub of the green early on when a few balls went just wide or just above our fielders so on another day we might have had a few early breakthroughs.
“Overall I am pleased with the five-wicket haul and my career-best figures. I’ve also been working hard on bowling at the death and it’s nice to have the responsibility at the end of the innings.
“As a group we are a little deflated with the first loss but we are looking forward to Sunday and trying to get back to winning ways against a strong Essex outfit.”
Paceman Palladino is excited at the prospect of helping Derbyshire return to form on Sunday against his former side.
“We will come back on Saturday for a good training session and review this game, see where we went wrong and improve for the Essex game," Palladino added.
“Essex are a good one-day side; they’ve got some big-hitters and some very skilful bowlers. Make no mistake, it’s going to be a very tough game for us.
“They aren't really challenging for the other tournaments so they will be fully focused on this game and hoping to give us a good game and vice-versa.”
Derbyshire versus Essex is on Sunday 10 August at 10.30 am at The 3aaa County Ground and tickets are available to buy in advance click here>> and by calling the Ticket Hotline 0871 350 1870.
