Derbyshire Falcons' Royal London One-Day Cup campaign continues against Essex Eagles at The 3aaa County Ground on Sunday 10 August; 10.30am start.
The Falcons tasted defeat for the first time in the new tournament against Lancashire on Thursday night so will be determined to get back on track when they host Essex, who currently sit third in Group A having won two out the three games they have played to date.
The Eagles boast a heavily experienced one-day side featuring England international Ravi Bopara, New Zealand hard-hitting batsman Jesse Ryder and led by Captain Ryan ten Doeschate.
Derbyshire skipper Wayne Madsen is currently the highest run-scorer in the tournament with 292 runs, at an average of 146, after hitting successive centuries in Derbyshire’s first two fixtures, while paceman Mark Footitt has claimed 10 wickets to date in the tournament.
Derbyshire Falcons host the Essex Eagles in the Royal London One-Day Cup at The 3aaa County Ground this Sunday at 10.30am.
The Eagles can call upon a plethora of big names for the One-Day side, including England International All-Rounder Ravi Bopara. Big-hitting New Zealander Jesse Ryder is very experienced in the shorter form of the game and has the ability to quickly as well as take important wickets.
The opening partnership between Mark Pettini and Tom Westley can often be fruitful for Essex, along with former Derbyshire Kolpak player Greg Smith. Essex also have an experienced bowling attack, including the likes of David Masters, Tim Phillips and the potentially explosive Graham Napier.
Essex squad (probable) in full is as follows:
Mark Pettini, Tom Westley, Greg Smith, Kishen Velani, Jesse Ryder, Ryan ten Doeschate, James Foster, Tim Phillips, Graham Napier, Matt Salisbury, David Masters, Jaik Mickleburgh, Reece Topley
Academy graduate Ben Cotton has been added to Derbyshire's 13-man squad to face Essex after Tom Taylor was ruled out through injury.
Taylor will miss the fixture after the 19-year-old sustained an ankle injury in the fixture versus Lancashire at Derby on Thursday. His fitness will continue to be assessed by the medical team.
Cotton is in line to make his List A debut for Derbyshire, after making his first-team debut against Lancashire in the NatWest T20 Blast earlier this summer.
Derbyshire captain Wayne Madsen is currently leading his side’s batting line-up, having scored 292 runs in three innings, including two centuries.
