Derbyshire take White on loan

Wayne WhiteLancashire all-rounder Wayne White has joined Derbyshire on loan for the remainder of the 2014 season.

He is available for the final four matches of the LV= County Championship campaign, starting with the visit of Worcestershire to The 3aaa County Ground on Sunday 31 August.

The Derbyshire born all-rounder, who represented the county in 11 first-class matches between 2005 and 2008, joined Lancashire in 2013 after a successful spell with Leicestershire.

The 28-year-old has featured in 72 first-class matches in total, hitting over 2,400 runs with a top-score of 101 versus Derbyshire in 2008, and claiming 155 wickets.

He is also an experienced performer in limited-overs formats having made 118 appearances and played a key role in Leicestershire’s 2011 Twenty20 success.

Elite Performance Director Graeme Welch said: “Wayne is a talented home-grown player who has gone away and proved himself in county cricket since coming through the ranks at Derbyshire.

“He now returns a more experienced and more complete cricketer and – as a Derbyshire lad through and through – he’ll certainly be giving it his all.

“This loan agreement gives Wayne the opportunity to showcase himself by turning in some impressive performances.”
