Shaun Ellingham, Andy Elland and Alan Flintoff have each won a copy of the 2012 Wisden Almanack after winning the recent website competition.
The three winners answered 52 to the question - Tony Palladino was Derbyshire’s leading wicket taker in the LV= County Championship in 2011. How many wickets did he take? – and they were randomly drawn as winners.
Wisden has a new editor this year, Lawrence Booth, the youngest man to hold the office for more than 70 years. In his Notes by the Editor he comments perceptively on the major issues facing the sport: Test cricket’s uncertain future, the need for India to strike a balance between power and responsibility, and the ongoing confusion surrounding technology.
Booth says cricketers everywhere need to take ownership of the corruption issue, and warns that the gap is growing between England’s Test set-up and the county game.
Wisden’s Five Cricketers of the Year are Tim Bresnan, Glen Chapple, Alastair Cook, Alan Richardson and Kumar Sangakkara, who is also named as the Leading Cricketer in the World.
