Juniors to be given opportunity to learn from Derbyshire’s title-winning captain

The Derbyshire Cricket Board is giving young, aspiring cricketers the unique opportunity to learn from the best; with a three-day Wayne Madsen Coaching Clinic this February.

The Coaching Clinic takes place on the 19th, 20th and 21st February at Chellaston Academy and is priced at £20 per day or all three days for £50.

The course is available in two age groups, with the 6 to 8 years category taking place from 9am – 12 noon and the 9 to 11 years from 12:30pm – 3:30pm.

The coaching clinic is a perfect opportunities for young cricketers to learn from Derbyshire’s LV=County Championship Division Two winning captain, with Wayne - supported by DCB coaches - working with the juniors to develop existing skills through skill-based exercises and fun games and will also share his invaluable insight as to what it takes to be a top professional.

Each player attending the course will also be entered into a prize draw for a signed shirt or bat; which will be drawn by Wayne himself on the final day.

Wayne said ‘Growing up in South Africa, Jonty Rhodes was my cricketing hero. Looking back at those days, I realise how important a positive influence is at this development stage. I’m really looking forward to helping young, aspiring cricketers to love the game and developing future Derbyshire stars.’

The course is limited to 26 places and is available on a first come, first served basis.
