County Ground plays host to Duke of Devonshire

His Grace the Duke of Devonshire was a very special guest at the County Ground last week; with Derbyshire’s Patron meeting with both club officials and members of the playing staff.

The Duke was informed all about the club’s vision for the future with Chairman Chris Grant, Chief Executive Simon Storey and Committee Member Brigadier Edward Wilkinson all in attendance.

The Duke was then brought up to speed with pre-season preparations as Derbyshire prepare for life in Division One of the LV=County Championship and witnessed the team training; paying particular interest to a fielding drill being conducted by Ali Evans, Tim Groenewald, Tony Palladino and Mark Turner.

A signed 2012 Derbyshire cricket bat was also presented to the Duke and it is understood that this will shortly appear at the Duke’s estate of Chatsworth House.

The club would like to thank the Duke of Devonshire for sparing the time in his busy schedule to spend the afternoon at the County Ground.
