Following the proposed upgrade to the corporate governance of Derbyshire County Cricket Club, profiles of each member of the proposed six man Advisory Board are outlined here: David Griffin, Chris Grant, David Booth, Kevin Dean, Rob Tice and Sir John Gains.
Each elected Supervisory Director will be responsible for bringing independent judgment to bear on issues of strategy and business / cricket performance, thereby helping to ensure that the Supervisory Board maintains responsibility for the effective stewardship of the Club in line with Members’ interests.
The Club’s Chief Executive - Simon Storey, Finance Manager – Peter Rose and Head Coach – Karl Krikken would also sit (but not vote) on the new Supervisory Board. They would continue to be responsible for the day to day running of the Club on and off the field.
Proposed Role: Finance Director & Chairman
A highly successful 20 year career in the City has provided Chris with a wealth of relevant knowledge and experience for the position of Finance Director. Furthermore, since becoming Chairman of Derbyshire County Cricket Club in March 2011, he has drafted and overseen the implementation of the Club’s widely acclaimed Nine Point Cricket Strategy, as well as presiding over on-field LV= County Championship promotion as champions, masterminding two successive profitable years and releasing the Club’s future strategy for long-term business sustainability and financial security.
Proposed Role: Business Development
David’s company Office Care Ltd is one of the leading cleaning service suppliers in the UK. Having built his leading business from scratch, David has overseen the cross-selling of cricket to his impressive database of corporate contacts. He is the current Derbyshire County Cricket Club Vice Chairman.
Proposed Role: Legal Services Director
Recognised by the Legal 500 for his work with clients, Rob is a high-flying Partner and Head of Employment at local law firm Flint Bishop. His specialism is Employment Law and he is an invaluable source of advice to DCCC on contracts and other legal matters.
Proposed Role: Administration Director
41 years as a Member of the Club, including 14 years on the General Committee and eight years as Honorary Secretary, have provided David with huge knowledge of the workings of the Club, its history and tradition and its Membership. His local government experience garnered through employment with Nottingham City Council will also prove valuable to the Advisory Board.
Proposed Role: Cricket Advisory Director
With first-hand and extensive experience of the recreational, developmental and professional games in Derbyshire, Kevin will provide valuable insight into all levels of the pyramid structure. Having ended his professional career as recently as 2008 – and still performing at the highest level of the recreational game – he is fully attuned to the needs of modern day cricket.
Sir John Gains
Proposed Role: Facilities Director
A wealth of experience at the very top of the construction industry ensures that Sir John is ideally qualified to assist Derbyshire CCC with its proposed ground development. He is also in an excellent position to help the Club continue to develop its facilities and income generation off the field.
