More good news for beer drinkers this week following the recent budget as a new house beer will be added to the line-up in our Members’ Lounge in 2013.
The additional beer, brewed exclusively by brewery partner Greene King, means Members in the Lund Pavilion will be able to choose from the official Falcon's beer, Old Speckled Hen - a traditional, full strength golden ale with an original gravity of 4.5% - and a new lighter ale with an original gravity of 3.2%.
The new house beer will be priced at just £2.95 and will be initially available for a trial period until the end of May in the Members’ Lounge in the Lund Pavilion.
At the same time, the Club has announced that it will be extending its restriction on bringing alcohol into The County Ground and Queens Park to include all one-day and tourist matches. The move comes in the face of mounting pressure on the government to tighten up on alcohol regulations at sports venues.
Chief Executive, Simon Storey said: "Encouraging responsible drinking at sports venues is an increasingly important theme for government, health authorities, breweries, cricket clubs and the ECB.
“Looking around professional cricket, the days of fans being allowed to bring even limited quantities of their own beer and wine into a first-class ground are numbered.
Edgbaston, Trent Bridge and Grace Road already have a full restriction. But we have worked hard with ECB and Greene King to develop a plan for the coming season at Derbyshire that not only delivers greater choice and value to our Members, but also sends a message that we take our responsibilities in this area very seriously.”
The name of the new house beer is yet to be decided and the Club is now welcoming supporter input as we look at putting a name to this exclusive one-of-a-kind beer.
The Club now wants our supporters to get involved on Twitter and Facebook as we listen to your views on the name.
