The Cricket Derbyshire Book Shop is urging Members to spend just £5 each during the course of the season to help continue the shop’s excellent support for the Club’s youth and academy development.
The shop enjoyed an outstanding opening week raising almost £400 during the recent home fixture against Nottinghamshire, with all proceeds donated towards helping the production line of developing young cricketers in Derbyshire.
The Shop, which is kindly operated by a team of dedicated volunteers, is now appealing to Members to spend a small amount each throughout the season to help raise enough funds to accommodate a summer contract for an upcoming young professional hoping to make their way into the senior side.
The same type of contract retained the likes of current first team squad members Paul Borrington, Peter Burgoyne, Jonathan Clare, Alex Hughes, Chesney Hughes, Tom Knight, Tom Poynton, Dan Redfern and Ross Whiteley during their formative years with the Club.
The shop, located next to the East Midlands Demolition Stand, contains an array of second-hand cricket related, general sport, and fiction and non-fiction books for supporters to purchase at low prices.
The continued success of the Cricket Derbyshire Bookshop is dependent upon the generosity of members and supporters in donating their books for others to enjoy. If you would like to donate any books, please bring donations to the Cricket Derbyshire Book Shop during any home game or hand them to reception at the Gateway Centre.
