Squad named for Surrey four-day fixture

SquadAlex Hughes could be in line to make his first class debut tomorrow, as the all-rounder has been named in Derbyshire’s 13-man squad for their LV= County Championship fixture against Surrey at the County Ground. 

The 21-year-old Academy graduate has featured in Derbyshire’s recent Yorkshire Bank 40 fixture against Scotland, Durham and Surrey, and he is now set to make his first class debut against Gareth Batty’s side this week.

Batsman Ben Slater, who hit an unbeaten 112 for the Second XI this week against Yorkshire, has also been drafted into the matchday squad for the four-day match. 

Surrey’s side will include Australia legend Ricky Ponting who will make his first appearence for the London-based Club at the County Ground.

Supporters should note that Day 1 only of the LV=CC match begins at 12 noon. Days 2, 3 and 4 will all start at 11am.

Derbyshire’s 13-man squad in full is as follows: Billy Godleman, Chesney Hughes, Wayne Madsen, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Wes Durston, Ben Slater, Alex Hughes, Richard Johnson, David Wainwright, Peter Burgoyne, Tim Groenewald, Mark Footitt and Mark Turner.
