Squad named to face Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl

DerbyshireFalconsDerbyshire have named a 14-man squad for their Yorkshire Bank 40 clash with Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl tomorrow; 4.40pm start.

Alex Hughes, who produced a fine all-round performance in the Falcons’ recent one-day victory over Essex, will miss the game due to a minor injury and Dan Redfern will replace him in the matchday squad.

Derbyshire will travel to Hampshire for a one-day contest for the first time since 2006, when the Royals came out on top by one wicket in a thrilling 40-over match, despite the best efforts of Stephen Stubbings and Gary Ballance who struck 72 and 73 respectively.

The Falcons will go into tomorrow’s contest full of confidence after securing a convincing 63-run win over Essex at Leek in their last Yorkshire Bank 40 match, leaving the county fifth in Group B, only two points off the top with two games in hand.

Hampshire go into the fixture after securing back-to-back wins against Durham and Lancashire, as the Royals currently sit two places and two points ahead of Karl Krikken’s side.
