Twenty20 practice match - Chesterfield Invitational XI v Derbyshire Falcons

HillDickinsonDerbyshire’s Friends Life t20 preparations continue when they face a Chesterfield Invitational XI at Queen’s Park tomorrow; Wednesday, 26th June; 6pm start.

Supporters will get the first opportunity to see new signing Albie Morkel in action as Karl Krikken’s men go head-to-head with a Kevin Dean led invitational side featuring plenty of first-class experience.

The Chesterfield Invitational XI will include an array of overseas players from around the local league circuit.

The likes of James Smith (Matlock), Kyle Heyns (Eckington) and Nick Gill (South Wingfield) all play locally in the north of the county. Other prominent players are Cameron Bancroft (Denby), Martin Walters (Lullington Park) Peter Drysdale (Spondon) and Dan Wheeldon (Sandiacre) alongside former Derbyshire batsman Matt Lineker.

Admission to the ground is free with donations and raffle revenue helping towards the cost of the new electronic scoreboard facility at Queen’s Park.

Real ale will be on sale in the beer tent with other drinks available from the Pavilion Bar. There will also be a Tea Bar open near the Pavilion.

Parking at the ground is restricted to cars of players and officials but there are public parks in the town just a short walk away.

This small helping of Twenty20 is only the start of the great cricketing entertainment at Queen’s Park this summer.

The Falcons will return to their picturesque northern outpost on Sunday, July 14th for the opening day of the Hill Dickinson Chesterfield Festival of Cricket, as they welcome Yorkshire Vikings for a Friends Life t20 fixture starting at 2.30pm.

Derbyshire then entertain the same opponents in a four-day contest starting on the following Wednesday, 17th July (11am), before ending the Festival with a second Friends Life t20 match, this time against Durham Dynamos on Sunday, 21st July (2.30pm start).

The Hill Dickinson Chesterfield Festival of Cricket at Queen's Park, Chesterfield, is sponsored by Hill Dickinson and Chesterfield Borough Council.
