Derbyshire Falcons have named a 15-man squad for their Friends Life t20 opener against Yorkshire Vikings at Headingley tomorrow (Friday, 28th June); 5.40pm start.
South Africa international Albie Morkel, who recently returned from his sixth season with Indian Premier League franchise Chennai Super Kings, is set to make his competitive debut for the Club against Andrew Gale’s Yorkshire side, who will have England’s Jonny Bairstow and former Derbyshire batsman Gary Ballance amongst their ranks.
World number two Test batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul has also be named in Karl Krikken’s squad, but all-rounder Alex Hughes is unavailable due to injury.
Derbyshire hit their highest-ever team total against the Vikings back in 2010, when 94 from Loots Bosman and 65 from Chesney Hughes helped the Falcons post 222-5 from their 20 overs, as the Falcons claimed a 65-run victory at Headingley.
Wes Durston could become the Club’s highest-ever run scorer in Twenty20 cricket tomorrow evening, as the all-rounder requires just three more runs to overtake current leading scorer Greg Smith.
