Derbyshire have named an unchanged 15-man squad for tomorrow night's opening home Friends Life t20 fixture of the season, against Lancashire Lightning at the County Ground; 7.10pm start.
Jonathan Clare, whose unbeaten 35 guided the Falcons to victory against Yorkshire, has recovered from a minor injury that kept him out of the Leicestershire game and the all-rounder has been included in tomorrow’s matchday squad.
Karl Krikken’s side currently sit top of the Northern Division and will be looking to extend their winning run to three games after securing back-to-back wins against the Vikings and Foxes in their opening two fixtures.
Albie Morkel insists that the Falcons can continue their excellent start to the competition, and believes a quick pitch at Derby will make for an entertaining fixture under the floodlights at the County Ground.
“It’s going well so far and we have got off to a great start,” Morkel said. “It is always good to win your first game to gain a bit of momentum and luckily we went on to win our first two which has put us in a good position. Now we prepare for Lancashire tomorrow and then Nottinghamshire on Friday. They are two very good sides. Lancashire are a fantastic team, but we are definitely going to be up for it.
“I have only played one game at the County Ground before, a few years ago before they moved the wicket around, so I’m not too familiar with the conditions here but they say it has quickened up this year and there is good carry for the fast bowlers.
“With wickets like this you also tend to get high-scoring contests and that is what people want to see, especially in front of the Sky Sports cameras, so they set to be two very entertaining games – and hopefully we can get two more victories.”
