Kim Barnett to lead Cricket Derbyshire XI at Chesterfield

KimBarnettKim Barnett will lead a Cricket Derbyshire side containing an array of club legends at Queen’s Park on Monday in the Chesterfield Turns Pink Charity Twenty20, with a 6pm start.

The Club’s all-time leading run scorer and former Captain will head-up the Old Speckled Hen Cricket Derbyshire XI featuring the likes of Devon Malcolm, Adrian Rollins, Stephen Stubbings and Kevin Dean.

Barnett, whose Derbyshire career brought an astonishing 23,854 first-class runs at an average of 41.12, will face his former team mate Chris Adams, who has been selected for the McGrath Foundation XI alongside the likes of Glenn McGrath, Darren Gough and Jason Gillespie.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul will also feature for Derbyshire in the charity fundraiser, as will England Women’s international wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor.

Darren Maddy – one of Twenty20 cricket’s great innovative batsmen during his fine career with Leicestershire and Warwickshire - will also guest for the Old Speckled Hen Cricket Derbyshire XI.

Players and supporters will don pink themed clothing to increase breast cancer awareness in young women, to support the UK Breast Cancer Care charity and to boost the McGrath Foundation’s excellent work in Australia.

A percentage of funds raised will also go to the Cricket Derbyshire Community Foundation; a new charity established to deliver cricket based sport, education and health projects to benefit the people of Derbyshire.

Cricket Derbyshire Director of Partnerships Ryan Duckett said: “This is a great opportunity for supporters to roll back the years and see the stars of yesteryear play for Derbyshire once again.

“And with so many international stars of the past and present in action, this really is an event not to be missed – and it’s for a selection of excellent causes.”

Hours of play: 6pm to 8.45pm. Tickets purchased in advance of the day of the game are priced £15 for adults, £5 for juniors and children under 5 are free.

Adult tickets on the day are £20 or £15 for a card holding member of Derbyshire County Cricket Club; £5 for juniors and children under 5 are free.

Car Parking is priced at £4 in advance; £5 on the day. This match is not included in Derbyshire CCC 2013 Membership.
